Northern Chords Festival 2022

We are delighted to present the 2022 Northern Chords Festival, which will take place 14-15 May at St James’ and St Basil’s Church, Fenham Hall Dr, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 9XP.

Festival passes are available for £30 for all three concerts.

Saturday 14 May 2022, 1-2pm

Mentorship Gala Concert

Northern Chords Festival artists have been mentoring four outstanding young musicians. Join them in this special performance celebrating their work, presented by Artistic Director Jonathan Bloxham.

This concert will include a world premiere by Lucy Walker, written especially for the other mentees.

Bellini: “Vi ravviso, o luoghi ameni” (La Sonnambula)

Celebrity Recital

Petroc Trelawny – presenter

Claire Bartnett-Jones – mezzo soprano

Ben Johnson – tenor

Tom Primrose – piano

BBC Radio 3’s Petroc Trelawny is joined by two Cardiff Singer of the World Audience Prize winners – Claire Bartnett-Jones and Ben Johnson – in an evening celebrating the intricate and beautiful relationship between words and music.

This programme interlaces works by Purcell, Liszt, Vaughan Williams, Holub, Shakespeare, Auden and more to create a wonderful mix celebrating words, spoken and sung from the 16th to the 20th Century.

Tickets £15/£5 students. Under 18s free

Haydn – Little Organ Mass

Voices of Hope

Northern Chords Festival Orchestra

 

A unique opportunity to hear Haydn’s seminal Little Organ Mass in its original setting, as part of a church service.

This performance is part of Holy Communion at Js and Bs and is free to attend. Do stay on for the lunchtime concert!
